Last Friday, May 23rd, Assembly member Susan Bonilla’s Adherence Bill, AB 2418 passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee unanimously.
This bill is co sponsored by the California Pharmacists Association and is very important in preserving the patient-pharmacist relationship. The bill ensures that patients can opt out of mail order programs, an issue very important to patients with chronic diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis C.
The bill also streamlines the refill synchronization process and ensures that patients can get early refills on chronic eye drops if they run out before the refill is due.
The bill will be voted on in the Assembly Floor this week and it’s important for California Pharmacists to send your Assembly member a message urging them to vote YES on the Bill.
